On the other hand, self-hosted system like Drupal, WordPress and Textpattern offers great flexibility to build your site in whatever way you like.

How about myself? On my personal site (WRDC), I use both. Previously I used only Drupal, ended up with lots of blocks, modules and third-party addons. Drupal is a great system, but it’s a bit too complex for a personal site like mine. Then I moved to Blogger and managed content from there while preserving a custom frontpage hosted on my server. I enjoyed the customizable layout of Blogger, and the ability to use a custom domain. Unfortunately, the custom domain setting wasn’t that easy for me. And it sometimes takes days to run properly.

Then I found Tumblr. Its gorgeously simple structure has impressed myself. When I tried to use it with my own domain, it’s easy as 1,2,3! It takes only a few minutes to run!

I’ll talk about this later. Gotta get back to work!

Redesigning WRDC: Part 1

It’s been almost three years since I built WRDC, my personal website. Drupal was the CMS I used to power my site, back then. I guess I had to do another makeover just to keep things interesting, and find some new challenges. Well, I haven’t code for a while, and I’m about to get my hands dirty this time„, really dirty.
